If you're considering cleaning stains out of your own carpets, you are about to embark on a bigger decision-making process than you might have thought. It is not as simple as just renting the machine and purchasing the chemicals to put in that machine to get your carpets cleaned. In fact, you can spot clean your carpets without going through the expense of renting a machine and dealing with the bulkiness of it. This guide explains three methods of dry carpet cleaning from which to choose.

Dry Foam Cleaning

The dry foam cleaning method is a cleaning choice that might take a lot of work, but it's a great way to spot clean heavy stains. All you need to do is spray the dry foam on the carpet, scrub the spot with a scrub brush and wipe it off with a clean cloth.

Choose a foam that will leave behind a nice scent when you're finished cleaning. Dry foam solution disappears on its own. There is no need for rinsing or waiting for the carpet to dry before walking on it.

Bonnet Dry Cleaning

If you get to the stains before whatever was spilled has the chance to settle in, you can try the bonnet method. To perform this type of cleaning, mix your choice of carpet cleaning solution with the same amount of club soda in a spray bottle.

Shake the mixture well and mist it on the stain. Scrub the stain with a scrub brush. Once you've scrubbed it a while, blot up the solution--along with the stain--with a clean dry cloth.

Dry Powder Cleaning

Choose your choice of dry powder to mix with your carpet cleaning solution in a bowl to create a paste. You can choose baking soda, carpet freshener or any other type of dry powder you like.

Spread the paste over the stained area with a sponge. Scrub the spot with a scrub brush hard enough to reach settled-in stains, dirt and odors. When finished, break out the vacuum cleaner and vacuum up the mix.

Choose any of these methods to dry clean spots off your carpet. You don't have to wait until you can afford to rent the bulky machine. Ask your local carpet cleaning service for help if you run into any issues with these cleaning methods or for more ideas on dry cleaning spots that have suddenly shown up in your carpets.
